Why we built Spark

Anyone starting out in the UK hits the same wall: dozens of GOV.UK pages, forms full of jargon, and no straight answer to the only question that matters — what do I actually need to do? Miss a registration or a licence and it can cost you. We thought that was a daft way to start a business, so we built Spark to fix it.

What Spark does

Tell Spark what kind of business you're starting and it gives you a setup checklist tailored to you — the exact registrations, licences and insurance your trade needs, in plain English, with the official links and the deadlines that matter. Then it helps you actually start trading: a simple website, invoicing, a job diary, and reminders so nothing slips. Where it helps, we hand you over to trusted providers for things like banking, accounting and insurance.

Who's behind it

Spark is built by LP LABS LTD, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 17293785), based in London. We're a small team building Spark hand in hand with the businesses that use it — which is why your feedback shapes what we build next.

Where we are today

We started with the trades — construction, hospitality, and beauty & aesthetics — covering the licences and rules specific to each, and we're adding more sectors over time.
